1. Information We Collect
We collect the following information when you use the Stay mobile application: • Your name, phone number, email address, gender, and user type (e.g. student, worker) when you create and set up your account in the app • Your profile photo (or Google account avatar) for identification between hosts and guests • Your location data to show nearby listings and map property locations within the app • Device information including device ID, operating system, and push notification token for delivering booking and message alerts to your device • Property details, photos, and pricing when you create listings • Messages and communications between users • Reviews, ratings, and comments you submit after bookings • Feedback, bug reports, and content reports (including optional screenshots) submitted through the app • Usage data such as pages viewed and features used in the mobile application Hosts who voluntarily apply for verification may be asked to provide identity documentation and supporting materials. This information is collected solely for verification purposes and is handled under strict security and retention controls (see Sections 4 and 5).
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to: provide, maintain, and improve the mobile application Service; process transactions and send related information; connect tenants with landlords; send you notifications about your account, bookings, and messages; personalise your experience and provide relevant listings; detect, prevent, and address fraud and security issues; and comply with legal obligations.
3. Information Sharing
We share your information only in the following circumstances: with other users as necessary to facilitate bookings (e.g., your name and contact details with a landlord you've booked with); and with service providers who assist us in operating the platform. We never sell your personal information to third parties. Your data is never shared for advertising or marketing purposes without your explicit consent.
4. Data Security
Data Security and Authentication All data is encrypted in transit and at rest using industry-standard protocols. Authentication is managed by Clerk, a trusted third-party provider. When you choose to sign in using Google OAuth, we access your Google account email and profile name to authenticate your identity and create your account; your Google password is never shared with or stored by Stay.Sensitive documents submitted for verification purposes are stored in encrypted cloud storage, accessible only to authorized reviewers, and are permanently deleted from our servers once the review is complete within 24 hours of submission.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the mobile application Service. Sensitive information submitted for verification purposes is retained only during the review period. Once the verification review is complete, all submitted documents and sensitive identifiers are permanently deleted from our servers. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time via the Delete Account option in the mobile application or by emailing support@stayavnix.xyz. Deletion requests are processed within 30 days, during which you can cancel the request.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; correct inaccurate information; request deletion of your account and all associated data; opt out of marketing communications; and request a copy of your data in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, use the Contact Support option in the app or email support@stayavnix.xyz.
7. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website to improve your experience and analyse usage patterns. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings.
8. Children's Privacy
The Stay mobile application is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child, we will take steps to delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. The updated policy will be effective when posted.
10. Compliance
Stay operates in compliance with the Zimbabwe Cyber and Data Protection Act 2021. We are committed to protecting user data in accordance with applicable laws. If you believe your data rights have been violated, you may contact us at support@stayavnix.xyz.
